I’ve just got back from a convention in Greensboro in North Carolina and I would like to thank all concerned for the invite to this fantastic event and the VIP treatment all the way.

I’ve chose this space on the blog not to talk about the few days spent at the convention, as you’ve all probably attended many of this in your lifetime, and if you haven’t then I would highly recommend anyone who is trying to build their own network or business to attend a few. They are essential, they build and strengthen your character.

You are surrounding yourself with like-minded folk and this gives you the power to build your businesses and give you growth within your own networks much faster and quicker than if you have never attended like this.

The wonderful thing about this convention for me was not just the speakers but the people and characters that surrounded the convention itself. I choose this picture as I have fond memories of my chauffeur driver, what a character, upbeat and positive every day and certainly got my day off to a great start before I even arrived at the convention to surround myself with even more wonderful people. What a high, what a positive impact this has on the soul.

This convention was one of the best I have attended, highly organised and highly professional.

I must comment that you don’t need the limousine to surround yourself with positivity, but you do need to surround yourself like-minded people if you want to build a future within this business.

Thoughts on Life

I like watching people reach their true potential and helping them do it…

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or help you figure out who you are and or who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be, possibly your flatmate, neighbour, teacher, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger, but when you lock eyes with them, you know at the very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometime things will happen to you that may seem horrible, painful and unfair at first, but in reflection you find that without overcoming these obstacles that you would have never realized your true potential, strength, will power, or heart.

Everything happens for a reason.

Nothing happens by chance or by mean of good luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul.

Without these small tests, whatever they may be, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless!

The people that you meet who affect your life, and the success and downfalls you experience, help to create who you are and who you will become, even the bad experiences are learned from. In fact, they are the most poignant ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious when you open your heart.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything you could possibly can for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people that you have never talked to before and actually listen… Let yourself fall in love again, break free, and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right too.

Tell yourself that you are a great individual and believe in yourself. For if you don’t believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you.

You can make your life anything you wish…..Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely NO REGRETS.

Most importantly, if you love someone tell him or her, for you NEVER know what tomorrow may have in store. And learn a lesson in life each day you live.

Today is the tomorrow you were worried about yesterday…. Was it worth it?

1. Procrastination – Just remind yourself the more fear you feel about a specific task, the more certain you can be that that task is important to you and your growth.

2. Limiting beliefs of others – “That’s too hard”, “that won’t work”. Remember, if everyone listened to the negative advice of others, no one and nothing would really progress in this world

3. Bad environment – Jim Rohn once said “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. Don’t be hesitate to limit time to or cut off those who continually drag you down.

4. Lack of Motivation – Have a strong image of why you want to be successful.

5. Part time dedication – To be successful you have to continually work towards your goals and not only when it’s convenient for you, or when you have nothing else to do.

6. Time is limited – Every minute wasted is another chance gone to move closer to your dream goal.

8. Settling for less – Why do you think you don’t deserve the best’?

9. Lack Of persistence – You forget that most successful people are overly persistent in reaching their goals and dreams.

Life is like a book with many chapters that we call seasons.

Each chapter is different, they tell the story of love, drama, comedy, mystery, loss, adversity, growth, disappointment or triumph.

While some chapters are dull and ordinary, some are intense and exciting.

The key to enduring, persevering and being hopeful is to never stop on a difficult page, to never quit on a book or a chapter that seems too long.

Your choices are the pens you use which write the words in your book.

Have the courage to keep turning the pages believing better chapters lie ahead.

Trust, listen and believe and then activate your talents.

A few times every week I get a pitch to join someone’s network.  Sometimes they’re crass pitches I just ignore.  Other times I politely decline and explain I am happy with my company and I’m not sponsorable.  Then they all invariably say something like, “You understand, I had to ask.”

Ah, no.  No you don’t.

Let’s test out an analogy.  You’re a guy and you meet a very sexy women and you find out she’s married.  You say something like, “I know you’re married and love your husband and all, but would you like to sleep with me, and see – maybe you’ll like me better than him.”

She gets offended and slaps you.  You’re shocked and say, “You understand, I had to ask.”

No.  No you didn’t.

There is something called professional courtesy.  That’s why I don’t call up Jordan Adler, Richard Brooke, Art Jonak or Donna Imson and try to pitch them on my deal.  They are in competing companies, but they are still my peers and colleagues in the profession I am also in.

Now I will be the first to admit, I wasn’t always this way…

When I started out, I also thought the secret was chasing after everybody in those other companies and explaining why their deal sucked and mine was superior.   That’s the arrogance that comes from being new, not knowing what you’re doing, and not having respect for the profession.

But once you grow up, learn something about the business and understand it, your viewpoint needs to change.   It doesn’t serve us to tear down other companies.  It just makes us all look bad to anyone not in the business.  And speaking of people NOT in our business, last time I checked, there were more than 6.8 BILLION people – not in Network Marketing, yet.  Why don’t you call up some of them?

And the next time you’re thinking about trying to cross recruit me or anyone else from another company thinking, “Hey, I have to ask,” remember this:

No.  No you don’t.

Networking = Meeting Interesting People

Networking. It still surprises me that some people are confused by this word.

What does it actually mean?

We live in the age of the Internet, where the answer to anything is at the end of a computer, so what does it mean? – Just Google it!

With a quick search this is the best explanation I could find, when I typed in “What is the meaning of the word networking?”

“Networking is the practice of making contact and exchanging information with other people, groups or institutions”

Well I guess if you break it down that’s what it is – but its sounds so boring! To me it’s never been just that. I went out the other day, and I had a fantastic day out!

I went to the VegFest in Brighton and met some wonderful people, tasted some wonderful food, and listened to views that quite frankly I had not even thought about before.

So was I Networking, I guess I was, but Networking to me can only mean one thing – your eyes are opened to new ventures, new ways of living, meeting new people and having fun. From this will spring new friendships and business acquaintances, new opportunities for me and that warmth that I can also help other people with sorting out things in their life.

Networking = A good day out.

A great meeting of ideas at the DSA Insiders Secrets Events in London

The DSA ‘Insider Secrets’ Seminar proved to be a great event yesterday at the Amway Experience Centre in London.

Keynote speaker, Darren Hardy gave a powerful presentation that highlighted some of the issues in the direct selling industry, pointing out that they were not necessarily the obvious ones. He backed it up with research and analysis and clear solutions to the issues that he had identified, which will enable all direct selling companies to increase their profitability.

This was truly a presentation full of answers for the delegates who attended and one not to be missed.  Darren kindly took the time to sign copies of his book‘The Compound Effect’, which were generously given to attendees by VideoPlus.

After lunch which provided the opportunity for open networking, three round table sessions were held with a wide range of topics discussed by delegates, including Sales Support, Brand Loyalty, Training Events, Retention, Recruitment, Your Starter Kit, PR, Customer Service and Social Media.

The day concluded with the three best points raised from each table being shared with all the delegates. There was a lot of very positive feedback throughout the day, this was truly an event not to be missed.
